Shred-A-Thon is on!!!!

Dates: Every Wednesday starting June 16th.
There is a brief mandatory riders meeting every event at 4:30pm. The first rider will go off the dock at 5pm sharp!

Format for the competitions:

Here is the format that the judges will be looking for at the Shred-A-Thon.

One lap with no pick ups! Each rider will get two starts off the dock to complete their run, the best of the two runs will count. Starting off the dock, 1 lap around ending just after the two kickers after turn 4.

There are 5 events that your points will accumulate from. The top 4 scores out of 5 will be taken, so if you miss a week, you are not penalized.

Pro Wakeboard & Wakeskate: No Limitations

Advanced Wakeboard:
Spins: up to front side 540s or backside 360s
Air Tricks/Kickers: up to Blind Landing Tricks (Sbends & whirlys are allowed but no other full twisting inverts)
Rails: Judges Discretion

Intermediate Wakeboard:
Spins: up to front side 540s or backside 180s
Air Tricks/Kickers: Basic Inverts & Raileys, no blind or full twisting tricks
Rails: Judges Discretion

Beginner Wakeboard:
Spins: up to front side 360’s or HS backside 180s
Air Tricks/Kickers: No Air tricks, Ollie 180 and ollie 360’s ok
Rails: Judges Discretion

Score Breakdown

Wakeskate, Advanced & Pro:
Kickers 25%, Sliders 25%, Air Tricks 40%, Composition 10%

Intermediate:
Kickers 35%, Sliders 35%, Riding, Ollie & Air Tricks 20%, Composition 10%

Beginner:
Kickers 30%, Sliders 50%, Riding & Ollie Tricks 10%, Composition 10%

Timeline for Points Chase & Championship

July 16th Last Day for Park competitions

July 17th Final Results are delivered to Cablewakeboard.com

July 19th Riders Qualifying from each park will be posted on Cablewakeboard.com

July 21st Parks will provide emails of qualifiers and top 2 alternates for invitation to championships held Oct 8, 9 & 10 at TSR

August 2nd Riders must commit by this date so alternates can be informed if they will be invited to compete.to represent themselves and teams

August 23rd Final rosters are set for riders competing at Points Championship.
Opening heats will be released soon after.

October 8th Registration, qualifying and welcoming dinner / ceremony & team photos

October 9th Quarterfinals & Semi Finals

October 10th Finals & Awards

Be apart of the National Cable Points Chase! Every cable in the United States is participating in this annual event. Each cable runs a contest every week for 5 weeks straight, and all the cables locals compete against each other (best 4 out of 5) to represent their home cable at the National Competition in October at TSR (Texas Ski Ranch)! There are 5 divisions: Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, Pro, and Wakeskate. The divisions are separated by skill only, all divisions are co-ed (meaning men and women compete together). Ski Rixen is very excited about this opportunity and is offering exclusive training time to the “Ski Rixen Team” to prepare for the event in October at TSR! Fall Season Hours Start September 1st.

Ski Rixen has started its Fall Season hours and will be open Weekdays 12pm-7pm and Weekends from 10am-7pm, except for Tuesday because we are closed. September 1st the time changes and we will be open until 7pm on all days of business! The Fall season hours will continue until further notice. Wednesday, September 1st is the first day of the new hours.

March 1st, 2010 will also be the first day of Ski Rixen’s new rates. Please visit the Rates & Hours page for details.

There are no cable exclusives at this time. Renting the cable is easy and a great way to have a get together at one of your favorite places. Take advantage of the new Ski Rixen patio area right out of the motor tower! Cable exclusives are $400 per 2 hours and need to be made by appointment a week in advance with a $100 deposit. How to do the kneeboard lap

How to do the kneeboard lap-
To start on the kneeboard, you first sit you butt on your heels, put the handle in tightly to your stomach and always lean forward with your head up looking where you are going. The cable will then pull you off the dock. Once you are on the water you are going to lean the direction you want to go and put the handle at the opposite hip. In the middle of Lake Rixen, there is a large red marker buoy that is a reference point just for kneeboarders. To make it out between the buoys at the first turn, you first need to lean to the left and get as close as you can to the large red buoy in the middle of the lake. Once that is behind you, you will then lean to the right to head the buoys at the first turn. If you are not going to make it inbetween the buoys at any of the turns, LET GO OF THE HANDLE!! If you let go or fall anywhere, first thing you do is look behind you for upcoming traffic, then swim to shore as fast as you can with all your equipment. If you are on course to make it in between the buoys, go back to the start position, and try to have your board pointed to where the next set of buoys.

I grew up shaping surfboards in a beach town on the east coast. Ever since I can remember I’ve been in the ocean surfing, and skateboarding in empty swimming pools with my older brothers and their friends, who taught me to always smile and enjoy riding, even when I’m having an off day, and that it doesn’t matter what tricks you do, but how you do them. I started wakeskating when I was 16, after the first set I was hooked. I love it because it’s a blend of surfing the perfect wave and skateboarding, all done with a love for style and a passion for the water.
